Some may think that this is a problem that affects only adults. The Yale Child Study Center study found the negative effect on racial prejudice on classrooms for preschoolers.
The study had about 135 preschool teachers observe videos of four children playingwith: a black boy with a black girl a white boy, and white girls. Teachers were asked by researchers to hit the “enterkey” at their keyboards when they observed any kind of problematic behavior on the videos.
There was no challenging behavior in the videos in the study, and it employed eye scan technology to determine which children the teachers paid the most interest to. The teachers observed more of the children who were black, regardless of his race.
The study finds the fact that boys of African descent face discriminatory standard of living. Adults could be under the impression that they will be troubled by these boys, even when they’re playing their best performance. That means they’re more likely to get caught up in minor controversies than their white peers. It’s an issue that teachers must be aware of in order to create the most respectful and fair classroom setting.
